How to Cleanse and Charge Your Crystals and Tools

Feel like your crystals are giving you the spiritual side-eye? They probably are. If your tools have been soaking up gunky energy all winter, it's time for a serious spring cleanse—and no, we're not talking sage smoke and vibes only.

Your tools are your allies. But just like you, they need rest, cleansing, and intention to do their best work.

Why Cleanse and Charge Your Crystals and Tools?

Think of it like magical hygiene. Crystals, tarot decks, pendulums, and ritual blades all absorb energy—yours, others', your ex's bad mood, the neighbor’s cursed sourdough starter...

If you’re not regularly clearing that energetic build-up, your tools can feel sluggish, heavy, or worse—totally ineffective. Cleansing resets them, and charging reinfuses them with purpose.

Cleansing Methods That Don’t Suck the Soul from Your Tools

Some of the internet’s advice is... sketchy. Let's stick with safe, time-tested methods—none of which involve burning endangered herbs or accidentally poisoning your cat.

1. Moonlight Cleansing

Let your crystals bathe in the full moonlight overnight. Bonus points for placing them on a natural surface like wood or stone.

🌕 Best for: Quartz, amethyst, selenite
🚫 Not for: Tools that fade in sunlight or are water-sensitive (no accidental dew damage, please)

2. Sound Vibration Reset

Use a singing bowl, tuning fork, or even a playlist of 528Hz frequencies. Vibrations help clear stagnant energy fast.

🔔 Bonus: No cleanup required. Great for witches with zero patience.

3. Smoke-Free Cleansing Alternatives

Try using breathwork (intentional exhales), visualization (picture white or golden light cleansing the object), or a bell/chime.

🛑 We’re skipping white sage and palo santo—both are overharvested and sacred to cultures outside our own.

4. Salt Bowl or Selenite Charging Plate

Submerge your crystal or tool in a bowl of coarse sea salt for a few hours—or rest them atop a selenite slab overnight.

⚠️ Don’t do this with soft or porous stones (like malachite or labradorite). They’ll hate you.

Charging: Feeding Your Tools a Magical Snack

Once cleansed, it's time to give your tools their marching orders.

Ways to Charge:

  • Place them on your altar with a candle or your current sigil work

  • Bury them briefly in earth (just don’t forget where)

  • Set them atop a charged piece of amethyst or clear quartz

  • Meditate with them, focusing your intention and purpose

Keep it short and sweet. Tools don’t need drama—they need direction.

Cleansing and charging isn't just a pretty ritual—it’s energetic maintenance for your practice. Treat your tools with the same care you give your craft, and they’ll return the favor tenfold.
